Step-by-step itinerary
Everglades boating and island exploration
- Meet guide and start Everglades experience
- Drive 1.5 hours from Fort Myers
- Powerboat ride through Everglades National Park
- Explore Ten Thousand Islands on nature tour
The experience
The tour starts with a 1.5-hour drive from Fort Myers to Everglades National Park, where you board a powerboat designed for six passengers. The boat has comfortable seating and a large, stable platform built for bird watching and photography. Your guide navigates through the park's waterways, pointing out wildlife as it appears: the species and locations shift with the season, so the route itself changes day to day.
After the boat ride, you move to the second part: an interpretive walk on a barrier island in the 10,000 Islands. On foot, you explore the island's beaches, tidal pools and inter-tidal zones with your guide explaining the area's ecosystems, heritage and the creatures living there. The walk is unhurried and designed for families: toddlers through grandparents can participate. If you're interested in birding, photography, shelling or simply wading in the pools, your guide adapts the pace and focus to the group.
The entire experience runs about 3.5 hours from start to finish. Note that from June through October, the operator recommends morning departures due to weather patterns. Accessing the boat requires climbing a ladder. If you need to load from a floating dock instead, let the operator know when you book.
