The experience

Fremont Street Experience and Downtown Container Park are built for neon, and this tour runs when the signs are actually on. You'll cover both in 90 minutes on a Segway, which means you move fast enough to hit both stops without the walking that eats up a regular tour. The guide handles the route and the history. You handle the Segway after a training session that happens before you leave.

The Container Park is a mini-mall made from recycled shipping containers with a working Praying Mantis sculpture that shoots fire on the hour. Fremont Street itself is older Vegas (the original downtown strip before the resorts moved south), and the canopy overhead runs a light show that changes all night. Riding underneath it on a Segway is a different angle than standing on the pavement.

You'll need to show up 30 minutes early for paperwork and a training run so you're comfortable on the machine before the tour starts. The guide provides a headset so you can hear over the street noise, and you get bottled water and a helmet. The tour runs at night, which is when downtown actually looks like downtown.
