The experience
The boat leaves Destin and heads out 10–15 miles through the Gulf of Mexico to the fishing grounds. On the ride out, you'll have a chance to spot dolphins, sharks, sea turtles and other marine life moving through the water. Once the boat reaches the reef, each angler gets their own rod and reel already rigged. The crew baits your hook and you drop the line to the bottom: most of the time the fish bite as soon as the bait reaches the seafloor, so the waiting is usually short.
Captain Aaron Finkley and the crew handle the navigation and the teaching, so whether you've fished before or never held a rod, the day is built around your pace. The boat is designed for families and groups fishing together, not a solo experience. You'll spend the afternoon pulling in fish that you can take back to cook for dinner, and the crew keeps the energy going with the mix of action and downtime that comes with reef fishing.
All fishing licenses, bait and poles are included in the trip price. Bring sunscreen, a hat and water. The sun on the open Gulf is direct. The boat operates year-round, and the six-hour window means you can fit the trip into a morning or afternoon without losing the whole day.
