The Experience

The tour hits four main stops: Larimer Square first, where Victorian storefronts and chef-driven restaurants line the streets; then the Colorado State Capitol, that gold-domed building sitting at exactly 5,280 feet above sea level (the "Mile High City" thing is literal). Free tours run inside if you want to step in, but the guide will walk you through the exterior and the history. After that, you're heading to the Denver Art Museum, which holds over 70,000 works — American Indian art, Western pieces, contemporary stuff. The museum's Martin Building was designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti back in 1971, and they've been renovating it since 2018. Admission runs $8 to $13 depending on what you want to see.

The History Colorado Center comes next, sitting in the Golden Triangle Museum District with hands-on exhibits and stories about Colorado's past. It's $18 to get in, and the space is built for people who don't want a stuffy museum experience — more interactive, less lecture. From there, the guide takes you through RiNo, the River North Art District, where industrial buildings have turned into galleries and concert venues.
