The experience

“Wait, are we really doing this?” I asked, half-laughing as our off-road van bounced along a muddy track just outside Denali. The driver (can’t remember his name, but he had that easy Alaskan grin) just nodded and cranked up the radio. Even before we clipped in, you could smell spruce needles in the air, sharp and cold. Our guide, Sarah, handed out helmets and told us about her first time zipping here (she screamed so loud a raven answered back). That made me feel better somehow.
