Cocoa Beach Surf Lessons: Private 2-Hour Class with Board

Two hours learning to read the water, catch waves, and stay safe in the lineup

A private 2-hour surf lesson in Cocoa Beach with an experienced instructor who teaches technique, water conditions and safety. The custom-fitted board is included, and you choose where to meet: your hotel, a beachside park like Lori Wilson Park, or the beach itself. Instruction covers surfing terms, reading tides and currents, catching and riding waves, and what to do if things go wrong. After the lesson ends, you can rent the board longer if you want to keep practicing.

The experience

The lesson runs two hours and covers everything from how to read the water and understand tides to the mechanics of catching and riding waves. Your instructor handles the teaching. You handle the board. A custom-fitted surfboard is part of the booking, so you don't rent separately for the class itself. The operator has been running these lessons for more than ten years, and they'll meet you wherever works: your hotel, Lori Wilson Park (their typical choice), or directly on the beach if you call ahead to lock down the spot.

If you're arriving by cruise ship on a port call, the operator meets you at the beach location the ship provides, or arranges a ride if the ship doesn't: an Uber or Lyft runs about $10 to $15 each way. The shop also stocks everything else a beach day needs: chairs, umbrellas, canopies, sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, and beach games. Ask about any of it when you book or contact the operator through the booking platform. After the two-hour instruction ends, you can rent the board for more time if you want to keep surfing. That's optional and arranged separately.
