Spot dolphins and manatees from the Gulf of Mexico.★ 4.85 (301)1h 30mUS$ 60View › We stepped onto the dock at Clearwater Beach, shoes in hand because someone told me you don’t want to lose them up there. The boat was already humming, and Captain Mike grinned like he’d seen a hundred nervous faces before. He cracked a joke about “flying lessons” as we pulled away from shore — not sure if it helped or made my stomach flutter more. The salt air hit right away, sticky and warm, and I could hear gulls bickering somewhere behind us.
Our guide explained how parasailing worked — harnesses, life jackets, all that — but honestly I was half-distracted by the way the sun bounced off the water. There were two other couples on board (one just watching), and everyone seemed to loosen up once Mike started telling stories about dolphins chasing their boat last week. When it was our turn, they clipped us in at the back of the boat. My hands were sweaty on the straps but then we lifted off so smoothly I barely noticed until my feet weren’t touching anything anymore.
I didn’t expect how quiet it would feel up there — just wind and this weird sense of floating. You can see all of Clearwater Beach stretched out below, tiny umbrellas dotting the sand. My friend yelled something but her voice got lost in the breeze; I remember laughing for no reason except it felt good to be up there. Coming down was easy too — we landed right back on the boat deck, still grinning. And yeah, you can ask to get dipped in the water if you want (I chickened out). The ride back was slower somehow, maybe because nobody wanted it to end yet.
