The experience

The tour begins at Washington Park, an 8-acre Victorian park in Over the Rhine that started as a cemetery in the mid-1800s and now hosts over 300 events a year. From there, your guide leads you through the neighborhood's Italianate architecture and hand-painted murals, each one telling a story about Cincinnati's residents and moments. You'll pass Cincinnati Music Hall, the 1878 performance venue that now hosts the Ballet, Symphony Orchestra, Opera and Pops, and stop at locally owned restaurants and eateries along the way: six in total, where you'll taste stuffed French toast, a local deli sandwich, pizza, German goetta, fudge, cheese and a pastry, plus one small craft beer.

The second half moves to Findlay Market, Ohio's oldest continuously operated public market and one of the city's most visited institutions. Open year-round Tuesday through Sunday, it's home to over 50 full-time merchants selling meat, fish, poultry, produce, flowers, cheese, deli items and ethnic foods. You'll have time to stroll and shop before the tour wraps with a short ride on Cincinnati's free streetcar. You'll receive a food guide with a map and restaurant list, plus a streetcar map with tips on where to explore downtown after the tour ends.

A live English-speaking guide leads the whole experience. Check in 15 minutes before the start time, and wear comfortable walking shoes: the walking portions add up to 30 to 40 minutes total. Strollers and prams work fine if you're bringing infants or small children. The tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, though it suits all other fitness levels.
