Climb and zip through the canopy instead of watching from below

Catalina Island Aerial Adventure is a self-paced obstacle course suspended in a grove of eucalyptus trees at Descanso, where you climb rope ladders, cross balance beams, swing on cables and zip line through five separate courses arranged by difficulty. Five courses let you pick the challenge level that fits your ability. A live guide leads the activity and all taxes and fees are included.

The experience

The course sits just a short walk from Descanso Beach Club but feels like deep forest. You move through your own pace across rope ladders, log bridges, balance beams and zip lines strung between towering eucalyptus. Five separate courses (two beginner, two intermediate, one advanced) mean you can start at the level that matches your fitness and build up, or stay at the height that feels right. The whole activity runs about 90 minutes from check-in to finish.

A live guide in English leads the group and manages safety throughout. You'll hike short distances between obstacles, ascend and descend stairs, and need moderate mobility and strength to move through the course. Close-toed athletic shoes are required. The operator has a limited number to rent if you don't have your own. Check-in happens 20 minutes before your start time and includes a waiver you'll sign, plus a weight and height check: participants must weigh between 50 and 270 pounds and stand at least 55 inches tall.

Children from age 7 can participate. Kids ages 7 to 9 must be accompanied by an adult climber who acts as their guardian on the course. Public transportation reaches the site, and lockers store gear and belongings you don't need during the activity.

What’s included

  • All taxes, fees and handling charges.
  • a live guide in English throughout the activity.
