The experience

The workshop starts with the fundamentals: how to hold a spray can, how pressure and distance change a line, how to move from a simple fill to a layered piece. Your instructor, a working graffiti artist, walks through the aerosol techniques that define the craft, then steps back while you apply them to your own canvas or wall space. All materials (cans, protective gear, canvases or wall space) are included, so you show up and start making.

At checkout you'll choose your format: work on a big shared canvas with other participants, create an individual project you take home, or paint freestyle on a wall. Each option changes the feel of the day, but the instruction and the techniques stay the same. The workshop runs about an hour, and public transit stops nearby if you're coming from elsewhere in Brooklyn.
