The experience
The tour starts in Boston's historic core, where you'll drive the Freedom Trail and pause at several of its 16 sites to hear the stories behind the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and the Battle of Bunker Hill. You'll see the Granary Burying Ground where Revolutionary War figures are buried, the Old State House where major events unfolded, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The guide will walk you through the North End, the neighborhood where Paul Revere's lanterns hung the night of his midnight ride, and explain the role of each location in the lead-up to war.
From Boston, the tour moves to Cambridge for an optional walking tour around Harvard's public campus: the oldest college in the country and a place where George Washington himself spent time. You'll stop for lunch near Harvard Square (your choice and cost). Then comes a 30-minute drive to Lexington Green, where you'll stand at the exact spot where the first battle of the Revolutionary War happened on an April night in 1775. The guide will walk you through what unfolded that night and show you the house where Sam Adams played an important role. A 30-minute drive along Battle Road follows (the same route Paul Revere and the British army traveled) before you reach Concord and the Old North Bridge, where the second battle caught the British by surprise. The return to Boston takes about 45 minutes.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Freedom Trail and how much of it do we actually see on this tour?
The Freedom Trail is a 16-site route through Boston's oldest neighborhoods that connects the city's Revolutionary War history. On this tour you drive the trail and stop at several sites to hear the stories (the Granary Burying Ground, Old State House, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and the North End among them) rather than walking the entire length.
Do we actually walk around Harvard, or just drive past it?
You get an optional walking tour around the public parts of Harvard's campus, where the guide explains the college's role in the start of the war and points out where George Washington spent time. It's a walking portion, not a drive-by.
What happened at Lexington Green that makes it so significant?
Lexington Green is where the first battle of the Revolutionary War took place on the night of April 1775. The guide will explain how the events unfolded that night and why this spot marks the beginning of the war.
How far is it from Boston to Lexington and Concord, and how much driving is there?
It's about a 30-minute drive from Cambridge to Lexington Green, then another 30 minutes along Battle Road to Concord. The return to Boston takes about 45 minutes, so you'll spend roughly two hours driving outside the city, with stops along the way to explore the sites.
Is lunch included, and where do we eat?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. You'll stop for lunch around Harvard Square in Cambridge, and you choose where to eat and pay for your own meal.
