The Experience

The guided portion lasts one hour, during which your guide leads you through Old Bisbee on an e-bike, stopping at landmarks like the Copper Queen Library Building—a Renaissance Revival structure on the National Register of Historic Places—and the original Bisbee Jail, once owned by John Wayne. You'll pass St. Elmos Bar, the oldest continually operating bar in the United States, and hear how the downtown hotels and churches shaped the town's character as you climb toward Castle Rock, which offers expansive views of Old Bisbee and a chance to photograph the landscape.

The route includes a stop at a mosaic wall created by artist Fred Albert, whose work appears in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and a mural wall by Rose Johnson, a muralist from England whose art and story are woven into Bisbee's cultural identity. You'll learn how the Cochise County Courthouse, an Art Deco landmark, reflects the town's rise to county seat. A wireless communication earpiece lets you hear your guide clearly and ask questions without shouting over the bike noise.

After the first hour, the guide departs and the second hour is yours to explore. You can return to B Active, the starting point, or continue riding through town past local restaurants and shops at your own pace. The e-bike handles Bisbee's hilly terrain, and helmets are provided.
