The experience
The trail itself is the rarity here: most hikes in Big Bear are steep and rough for little kids, but this one stays flat enough for a stroller. Your guide has spent five years leading outdoor adventures in Big Bear and twenty years exploring these specific trails, so they know which plants are safe to taste seasonally along the way and where to find animal tracks and owl pellets. The walk takes about 90 minutes and stays mostly on local routes, not the crowded tourist paths.
Along the way, the guide points out native plants and trees, explains the stories behind the animals living in the forest, and if butterflies appear, teaches your children how to photograph them. The guide shares local history of the Big Bear Valley and brings the smaller details to life. The insects you might spot, the seasonal wild plants growing at trailside, the way to read what animals have passed through. Hot chocolate or lemonade comes with the hike.
The trail is wheelchair accessible and works for infants and small children in a pram or stroller. Service animals are allowed. No special fitness level is required.
