The experience
You start with a map and a suggested route, then ride out into dry riverbeds, rocky paths, and open desert on the ATV you've picked. The Eastern Sierra Nevada rises around you, Mt. Siegel visible across the high desert landscape, and every turn of the trail opens a new view. Helmets and eye protection are required the moment you start the engine. The SPOT satellite GPS tracker stays with you so you're never unreachable, and fuel is already in the tank. Two hours is yours to spend however you want: push hard on the open stretches, slow down to pick your line through the rocks, or stop and take in the mountains.
This is self-guided, which means no one is leading the pace or deciding the stops. You get a detailed trail map and a list of sites and attractions riders explore on their own, so you know where to go but not when or how long to stay. The terrain is rough (dust, dirt, and rocky ground are the point), so bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray if you want them. Closed-toe shoes and layers matter. Weather can shift in the high desert. Arrive 15 minutes early to get oriented and suited up.
Three vehicle options are available at checkout: the XPEDITION XP 5 NorthStar, the RZR XP4 1000, or the RZR XP 1000. Each one handles the terrain differently, so pick based on what you want from the ride. A valid driver's license is required. Drivers must be 18 or older. If you're bringing a passenger, the passenger must be at least five years old and able to grip the handhold firmly with feet planted and back against the seat. If a passenger is under 18, the driver must be 25 or older.

Is this one for you?You control the pace and the route, so this works best if you want the freedom to linger on a view or push hard on open ground without a guide setting the schedule. The self-guided format also means you need to be comfortable reading a map and navigating on your own. If you prefer someone leading the way and explaining the terrain, a guided tour would suit you better.
Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I ride an ATV in Stateline if I've never done it before?
Yes. This rental is self-guided, so you set the pace and choose which trails to explore from the map provided. The terrain ranges from open desert to rocky paths and dry riverbeds, so you can start easy and build confidence as you go. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended because you're operating the vehicle for two hours straight.
What happens if I get lost on the trail?
You carry a SPOT satellite GPS tracker, so you're never unreachable even if you wander off the suggested route. The detailed trail map and list of attractions give you reference points, and the suggested route keeps you oriented. If you need help, the tracker lets you signal for assistance.
What's included in the ATV rental price?
The rental includes the helmet and eye protection, the SPOT satellite GPS tracker, and fuel. You also get the detailed trail map and a list of sites and attractions to explore on your own. A refundable security deposit is required separately at checkout.
Do I need a driver's license to ride the ATV?
Yes. All drivers must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old. If you're bringing a passenger under 18, you must be 25 or older. Passengers as young as five can ride if they can grip the handhold firmly with their feet planted and their back against the seat.
What should I wear and bring for two hours of ATV riding?
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suited to the weather. Bring a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt in case conditions change. Pack water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray in a backpack. The high desert sun is intense and the terrain is rough, so preparation makes the ride more comfortable.
