The experience

The day starts with pickup at your Anchorage lodging, then moves through the city past Earthquake Park and Lake Hood's floatplanes before heading south. Your guide stops at Dahl Sheep viewing grounds along the drive, then takes the group into the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where bears, moose, elk and wolves roam in habitat you can walk through. From there, the route passes through Girdwood and Alyeska Resort: an optional lunch stop at a local restaurant happens here if you want it, and the seafood chowder is worth asking about. The last stop is Summit Lake Lodge for a final comfort break and views before the final stretch into Seward.
