The Experience

The bus pulls up to your Anaheim hotel before most people have finished coffee, and you realize you're about to spend ten hours seeing Los Angeles the way people who live here actually do — not rushing, not alone, but in a group small enough that the driver remembers your name. You head north toward Hollywood, and the first real moment lands at Griffith Observatory, where the city spreads out below you and the Hollywood Sign sits on the ridge across the canyon, close enough to photograph but still somehow distant. Then you're walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame, past the TCL Chinese Theatre and the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars happen, and it's strange how small those buildings look in person — smaller than the myth, but also more real. The driver points out where specific movies filmed, which streets you've seen in a hundred car chases, and you start noticing the geography differently. Rodeo Drive is next — the Beverly Hills sign photo stop is unavoidable and you do it anyway — and then the coast. The tour ends with a pass through Marina Del Rey, where the yachts are lined up like a parking lot for people with serious money, and then the driver heads back toward Anaheim, dropping you at your hotel around 3:30pm.
