The experience
Two hours means you spend the bulk of the time actually riding, not motoring to a distant site. The route stays in the shallow flats and near-shore waters around Panama City Beach, where the emerald water is clear enough to spot marine life from your ski. You'll look for dolphins, stingrays, manatees and turtles as you glide over the bottom, then pull into Shell Island to explore on foot: hunt for shells or wade in the shallows while your guide stays with the group.
You operate your own jet ski the whole way. The guide rides alongside and gives you detailed instructions before departure so you feel comfortable with the controls, whether you've never touched one before or you're already experienced. Groups max out at five skis, which means you're not herded into a crowd and your guide can actually watch how you're doing. Life vests and all safety gear come with the rental, and there's a large dry storage box on board for your phone, wallet and keys.
Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time. If you were born after January 1, 1988, you'll need a valid Boater Safety Certificate to operate the ski. If you don't have one yet, contact the operator right after booking and they'll help you get it. One traveler equals one jet ski, so if you're booking for two people, you'll each have your own machine.
