You control the board while the instructor controls the power

Flyboarding in Ras Al Khaimah is an action water sport where you stand on a foot-mounted board connected to a jet-ski via an 18-meter hose, with redirected jet output lifting you above the water. A certified instructor operates the throttle so you focus only on balance and movement. Minimum age is 18. Sessions run 10 or 15 minutes. Life jacket included.

The Experience

The flyboard itself is simple: a platform for your feet, tethered to a personal watercraft by an 18-meter hose. The jet-ski's engine output normally propels the craft forward, but here it's redirected downward through two jets mounted under the board, creating the lift that gets you airborne. Your certified instructor stays in the wave runner, controlling throttle and power while you handle balance and positioning on the board. That division of labor is what makes it work. You're not managing the engine, just riding the board and learning how to move it.

After some practice, the board responds to small shifts in your weight. You can flip, spin, and dive through the water and air. The learning curve is steep but quick. Most people find their rhythm within the first few minutes. A life jacket is provided. Sessions come in two lengths (10 minutes or 15 minutes), so you can choose how long you want to stay airborne. The instructors are professional flyboarders themselves, experienced with riders of all levels, and they'll walk you through the basics before you step onto the board.

The instructor remains in the jet-ski the entire time, controlling the throttle and power while you balance on the board above the water.

How long does a flyboarding session actually last?

You can choose between a 10-minute session or a 15-minute session, depending on how much time you want in the air.

What happens if I fall off the flyboard?

You're wearing a life jacket, and the instructor is right there in the jet-ski. The board is designed to be stable once you find your balance, and falls are part of learning: the water breaks them.
