The Experience
The first thing I noticed as we pulled up to the Dubai Frame was the way the gold panels glinted in the morning sun—almost blinding for a second. Our driver, Ahmed, joked that it was “Dubai’s biggest picture frame,” and honestly, he wasn’t wrong. Inside, the museum on the ground floor surprised me; there’s this old radio playing Emirati folk songs and a model dhow boat tucked in one corner. You really get a sense of how far Dubai has come—from fishing village to skyscraper city.
The elevator ride up is quick but my ears popped halfway—guess that’s what you get with a 150-meter climb. On the Sky Bridge, I found myself glued to the glass floor (it’s see-through!), watching tiny taxis zip by below. To one side: Old Dubai, low-rise buildings and minarets; to the other: glass towers stretching forever. Our guide pointed out where the old souks are—if you squint, you can spot them.
Next stop: Dubai Miracle Garden. The scent hits you before you even see the flowers—a mix of sweet marigolds and something almost like bubblegum from the petunias. There’s a vendor near the entrance selling fresh coconut water (I caved and bought one). Walking under those heart-shaped arches covered in blooms felt like stepping into a storybook. Kids were running around snapping selfies with giant floral teddy bears, while gardeners trimmed petals with tiny scissors—seriously, every flower looked perfect.
