The experience

You get picked up from your hotel in a 4x4 and driven into the desert, where the guides walk you through basic handling on the ATV quad bikes before you head out. The training covers what you need to navigate the best tracks in the UAE, and from there you ride through the red dunes yourself: the guides stay with you the whole time. This is not a tour where you sit and watch. You control the bike and feel the terrain change under you as the afternoon light shifts across the sand.

After the riding, the day moves into the camel farms and then dune bashing in a high-dune section where the 4x4 driver handles the vehicle. You stop for the sunset, which is when the sand changes color and the light flattens out. A photographer is there for a picture with a falcon, and you can get henna tattoos or dress in Arabian attire for photos if you want them. The entertainment happens after dark: belly dancers, a fire show, and Tanura dancers perform while you eat.

The BBQ dinner includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, tea, coffee, gawa (a spiced coffee drink), and gaymat (fried dough pastries). Water and soft drinks run unlimited throughout the evening. The whole experience runs seven hours from pickup to drop-off, and the guides speak English, Hindi, Arabic, or Urdu depending on the group. Children from age four can join. Younger infants can ride in a pram or stroller during the non-riding portions.
