The Experience

“Desert’s always honest,” our driver Rashid said, grinning as he handed me a bottle of water before we left the city behind. I didn’t really get it at first — but maybe you have to feel that dry wind on your face to understand. The drive out from Dubai was quiet except for the radio playing something in Arabic I couldn’t place, and my friend kept laughing at how excited I got just seeing the dunes appear through the window.
