The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Dubai hotel, then a drive to the equestrian center where you'll meet your horse. A professional rider walks you through the basics and safety requirements (this takes about fifteen minutes), so you know what to expect before you mount. Once you're ready, you follow your team leader into the middle of the desert and ride for roughly 90 minutes through the dunes, moving at a pace the guide sets for the group. The landscape shifts as you go deeper into the Arabian desert, and occasionally you might spot a desert fox or gazelle moving through the sand.

The ride itself is the main event: you're controlling your own horse, not watching from a vehicle or sitting passively. The guide stays with the group the whole time, so you're never alone out there, and the route is designed for riders of mixed ability. After you're back at the center, light refreshments are waiting. Then your driver takes you back to your hotel.
