The experience

The journey starts with a drive from Kampala that takes about 4–5 hours, broken by a stop at the Uganda Equator. There you stand with one foot in each hemisphere, take photos, and watch a water demonstration that shows how water spins differently on each side of the line. Small shops sell local crafts if you want to browse. After the equator stop, you continue to Leopard Rest Camp, check in, and rest before the evening game drive begins in the late afternoon. The safari vehicle takes you through the park to look for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, warthogs, elands, and possibly leopards or hyenas. The sunset across the park frames the wildlife as they become more active in the cooler hours.

On day two, after breakfast, you choose how to explore the park. A cycling safari puts you on a bicycle along special tracks with a trained park ranger, letting you ride quietly near giraffes, zebras, and antelopes while the ranger points out the landscape. A guided nature walk covers the same ground on foot, with the ranger teaching you about plants, animal tracks, and birds as you move through the park. Both activities keep the pace slow enough to feel close to the animals without disturbing them. After your morning activity, you return to the lodge for lunch, then begin the drive back to Kampala, arriving in the evening.
