The experience
The boat departs four times daily between 9am and 6pm, running two-hour rotations so you can fit the cruise into the rest of your day in the park. You sit on a shared boat with other travelers, each with a reserved seat and drinking water provided. Life jackets are issued before departure. The channel itself is a narrow waterway where animals come to drink and cross, so sightings are frequent and close: hippos surface near the boat, crocodiles bask on the banks, and elephants wade into the shallows. A live guide narrates what you're seeing and points out the smaller species: monitor lizards, kingfishers, pelicans and herons that most travelers miss on their own.
Pickup is free within 3km of Kazinga Channel if you need transport to the boat launch. Children from age 5 are welcome on board. The boat accommodates between 5 and 30 passengers depending on which vessel is running that departure, so group size varies. If bad weather forces a cancellation, you can postpone to another time. Private boat charters are available with a minimum of seven passengers if you prefer not to share.
