The experience
If you've just landed at Entebbe International Airport or have a free afternoon before your flight, a bicycle tour lets you see the town without renting a car or waiting for a taxi. The route takes you through Entebbe's quieter streets and along Lake Victoria's landing sites, stopping at the Botanical Gardens (over 100 years old and dense with tropical trees, birds, monkeys and butterflies), and the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, a rescue facility 15 minutes from the airport that cares for animals that can't survive in the wild. Your guide works through interpretative talks at each stop, so you learn why the animals are there and what conservation means in Uganda.
The tour also includes the Uganda Reptile Village, an education center housing rescued snakes, lizards, turtles and crocodiles, and stops at Entebbe's craft markets where you can buy souvenirs and talk to vendors about traditional crafts. A break at Victoria Entebbe gives you time to rest and eat. The whole outing runs about five and a half hours, with entry to all three major sites covered in the price. You bring your own guide ($15 gratuity is customary) and the company provides the bicycle, bottled water and a locker for your belongings.
Is this one for you?Choose this if you want to pedal between Entebbe's sites yourself while your guide navigates the route and shares the history: giving you active movement rather than sitting in a vehicle.
