The Experience

The glow worm show starts shortly after sunset, when female glow worms release their eggs at the surface and males dart among them to spawn—both glowing with bioluminescence in synchronized pulses. For roughly 15 to 20 minutes, the water comes alive with thousands of tiny green bursts of light as a new generation is born. The timing is locked to the lunar cycle, which is why this tour operates only three evenings each month; the operator confirms availability before you book.

You board a power catamaran (occasionally a sail catamaran) from a Grace Bay beach hotel with pickup and drop-off by boat included—though a short walk along the beach may be needed depending on your hotel location. An English-speaking guide leads the evening, and the crew serves rum punch, red and red wine, local beers, soft drinks and bottled water alongside a selection of local appetizers. Children from age 3 are welcome aboard.

The boat carries you to shallow waters around secluded cays where the glow worms (odontosyllis enopla) inhabit the seabed.
