The experience

What does it feel like to breathe underwater for the first time? You'll find out on this dive. After pickup from your Antalya hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, you'll head to the harbor in Kemer where the dive boat waits. Your instructor will walk you through the basics (safety signals, equipment checks, how to breathe and move) before you enter the water. There's no experience required. The whole setup is built around people who've never done this before.

You'll complete two separate dives in the Mediterranean. The waters around Kemer hold Caretta turtles, schools of smaller fish, and seagrass beds that shift in the current. Your guide stays with you the whole time, watching your air consumption and your comfort level. Between dives, you'll eat lunch on the boat. The full day runs about nine hours from pickup to return.

Instructors communicate in English, German, Russian and Turkish, so language isn't a barrier. If someone in your group wants to come along but isn't diving, they can book as a non-diver and stay on the boat. Physical fitness matters here (you'll need at least a moderate level), and the activity isn't suitable for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns.
