The experience
Most group tours lock you into a fixed route and steer you toward restaurants the operator has deals with. This one flips that: you decide which valleys, museums and historical sites matter to you, and the guide takes you there. The licensed local guide knows the geology behind the fairy chimneys, the Christian history of the cave churches, and the 6,000-year pottery tradition of Avanos, and will explain what you're actually looking at instead of rushing through a checklist. The air-conditioned minivan handles the 200km daily limit, so you're not choosing between three sites or five. You're choosing which three or five matter most to you.
The route typically opens at a viewpoint over the northern valleys: a vantage point that shows you most of what Cappadocia holds. From there, the day branches: you might descend into Kaymaklı or Derinkuyu underground city (down to 51 meters below ground), walk among the mushroom-shaped rock formations of Fairy Chimneys, or spend time at the Göreme Open-Air Museum studying frescoes painted between the 6th and 11th centuries. Pigeon Valley, Devrent Valley with its animal-shaped rock formations, Zelve Open-Air Museum, and the ceramic workshop in Avanos are all within reach. You're not paying for any of this upfront: entrance fees stay separate, so you only pay for the museums and sites you actually enter.
Lunch is yours to choose. Avanos has local restaurants serving pottery kebab, grilled fish and tarhana soup, or international options if that's what you want. You pay the restaurant directly. The guide and driver cover their own meals, so there's no hidden markup on food. The minivan seats up to 16 people depending on your booking option, though the private format means your group travels together without strangers added to fill seats.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Japanese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the difference between the underground cities, Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu?
Kaymaklı lets you descend to 32 meters and explore five streets of the carved-out chambers. Derinkuyu goes deeper at 51 meters but opens only two streets to visitors. Both give you the same sense of how Christians sheltered in these carved refuges, so your guide will help you pick based on what interests you more.
Can I really choose any restaurant for lunch, or are there restrictions?
You choose any restaurant you want: local, international, in Avanos or elsewhere in the region. You pay the restaurant directly, so there's no commission built into your tour price and no pressure to eat at a specific place.
How much does it cost to enter the Göreme Open-Air Museum and other sites?
Entrance fees vary by site: the Göreme Open-Air Museum runs 300–400 Turkish Lira per person, underground cities around 250–300 Lira, Fairy Chimneys about 100 Lira, and Zelve Open-Air Museum 100 Lira. You pay these directly at each site, only for places you choose to visit.
What happens if I want to visit more sites than fit in a day?
The tour covers up to 200km of driving, which is enough to reach most of Cappadocia's major sites in a single day. Your guide will help you prioritize based on your interests and the time available, so you're not rushing or skipping things that matter to you.
