The Experience

The first thing I remember isn’t the view, but the way my sneakers crunched on the gravel at Dynamite Hill. There was this faint smell of wild thyme in the air — or maybe it was just nerves. Emre told me locals call it Cotton Castle — “Pamuk” means cotton in Turkish — and yeah, from above it really does look soft enough to sleep on. Landing was softer than I thought; grass brushing my ankles as we touched down. My legs shook for a while after but in that lightheaded, happy way you get after doing something new. Still thinking about that first rush when we left the ground, honestly.
