The experience

The Turkish bath is one of Turkey's oldest customs, and doing it early in your trip makes sense: the full body scrub strips away dead skin that builds up from travel, which means any tan you develop afterward lasts longer and looks more even. The experience starts in the sauna, then moves to the hammam where an attendant scrubs your entire body with a rough mitt, followed by a foam massage that covers you head to toe. After rinsing, you get an oil massage that can last 20 minutes in the standard program or stretch to 40 minutes if you book the deluxe Balinese option. The sultan program swaps the oil massage for a 30-minute aromatherapy treatment instead.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, or you can arrange to be picked up directly from Marmaris Cruise Port if you're arriving by ship. The whole session takes about 3 hours. You'll need to bring a bathing suit, bikini or swimming shorts. Staff speak English and Russian, so you can ask questions about the process or let them know if you need anything adjusted during the treatment. Towels and robes are provided.
