The experience

The jeep picks you up at your hotel security entrance and heads into the Taurus range on narrow dirt roads that open onto views from mountain summits. You stop at Kesme Bogaz for photographs, then walk to a massive sycamore tree and the remains of a Byzantine castle before entering a mountain village to see how locals live in the high country. A local cave visit follows, and the jeeps climb to 1,500 meters where the day ends with a swim in a mountain river before the drive back to your hotel.

Lunch is roast chicken or trout cooked in the oven with salad, included in the price. The guide speaks English or Russian and stays with the group throughout. Insurance covers the vehicle and passengers. You'll need a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, camera, sunglasses and sports shoes. Bring money for any personal expenses or the optional cave entrance fee.
