The experience

"You see Europe and Asia from the same boat," our guide said as we pulled away from the dock, and he wasn't exaggerating. The Bosphorus Cruise starts the 3.5-hour tour, and the water moves fast: Rumeli Fortress rises up on the right, built by the Conqueror to control the strait, all stone and history. Beylerbeyi Palace sits across on the Asian side, where sultans used to escape the heat. You're moving the whole time, so bring a camera that doesn't need steadying.
