The experience
Çatalhöyük is the largest and most developed settlement from the Neolithic period in the world, dating to 7200–6500 BC. It was the first proto-city settlement in Anatolia and holds the distinction of being where the first map, mirror and weave samples were discovered. The site reveals how people lived in those early millennia: their burial methods, architecture, religious beliefs and the shift from hunting to farming that transformed human life. It earned UNESCO World Heritage status for its archaeological significance and the rare window it opens into a producer community at the threshold of civilization.
Boncuklu Huyuk, 10 km away, takes you further back into that revolution. This Neolithic site shows the moment when settled life in houses and farming became the normal way people lived, roughly 10,000 years ago. The tour moves between these two sites to show the arc of that transformation. A professional guide in English or Turkish walks you through both, explaining the structures, artifacts and daily life of people who lived here millennia before writing, cities and empires. The museum at Çatalhöyük displays finds from both sites, along with objects from later periods (Early Bronze, Hittite, Phrygian, Greek, Roman and Byzantine) layered on top of the Neolithic foundation.
Hotel pickup and drop-off in Konya are included, as is private transportation between the sites and all entry fees. The tour runs five hours total.
