The experience

The day starts at Göreme Panorama, where the fairy chimneys and rock formations that define Cappadocia come into view. From there, the route moves to Kaymakli Underground City, an ancient subterranean complex carved into the rock where you walk through chambers and passages that once sheltered entire communities. The scale of the excavation (multiple levels cut deep into the stone) makes the engineering visible in a way no surface site can match.

The centerpiece is a hike through Ihlara Valley, where the Melendiz River runs through a gorge lined with towering cliffs and vegetation that stands out against the surrounding plateau. The walk follows the river floor, so the landscape changes as you move through it rather than viewing it from a distance.
