The experience

A jeep gets you to places the standard walking and coach tours skip. You start from your hotel in Goreme and head into the valleys: Pigeon Valley first, where ancient residents carved dovecotes into the rock faces and the panoramic views stretch across the whole region. From there the route moves through Ibrahimpaşa, where cave stone houses line the hillside, then into Pancarlık Valley and its church, and on into Goreme Valley itself, where the landscape opens into a network of sparse tunnels and dark caves carved into the stone.

The jeep handles terrain that would take hours on foot, so the half-day format actually covers ground. Lunch is a set menu with options, eaten somewhere along the route. A driver and guide travel with you, speaking English, and the whole thing runs about three and a half hours door to door. The route ends with stops at Rose Valley and Ortahisar, where you see the second-highest rock formation in the region before heading back to your hotel.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years); Infant (under 4): free.

What is Pigeon Valley and why is it on this tour?

Pigeon Valley sits in Uçhisar and holds hundreds of dovecotes carved by ancient inhabitants into the cliff face. The site offers one of the best panoramic views of the whole Cappadocia region and is a stop early in the jeep route.

Can I reach these valleys on a regular walking tour instead?

The jeep visits hidden treasures and valleys that walking and coach tours do not include in their programs. The off-road vehicle reaches sites deeper into the landscape that would take much longer to access on foot.

What happens at lunch during the tour?

Lunch is included as a set menu with selection options, eaten during the route. The guide will tell you where and when you stop to eat.

How much walking is involved in this half-day jeep safari?

The tour is built around driving through valleys and stopping at viewpoints and cave sites. Walking is minimal. You get out at each stop to look around and take photos, but the jeep does the main work of covering distance.
