The experience

The tour leaves Alanya around 3:00 AM and covers roughly 500 kilometers to Cappadocia, with comfort stops and a breakfast break in the Taurus Mountains along the way. You arrive midday and head straight into the Saratlı Underground City, an ancient subterranean settlement carved into the rock. After lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon takes you through Devrent Valley, where the rock formations resemble animal shapes, then to Avanos to watch pottery artisans at work and try shaping clay yourself. The day ends at Pigeon Valley, where dovecotes are carved into the cliff face, and a viewpoint at the base of Uçhisar Castle, the highest point in Cappadocia. You stay overnight at a 3 or 4-star hotel with dinner included.

Day two begins with an optional sunrise hot air balloon ride (booked separately), followed by a visit to an onyx workshop to see how craftspeople shape the stone. The main stop is the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where rock-cut churches hold ancient frescoes. A brief halt at Love Valley, known for its pillar-shaped formations, rounds out the tour before the return drive to Alanya. Breakfast is included. Lunch is on your own both days.
