The experience

Six to eight hours takes you through three distinct stops along Tunisia's coast. Start in Nabeul, where earthenware tiles cover the facades of houses and shops, and a giant decorated jar sits in the city center. The town is built around ceramics, and you'll see the craft everywhere. From there, the route moves to Hammamet, a fishing village that became a fortified medieval settlement when ascetics monitored the coast for raids. You'll walk through the old medina and climb to the top of the Ribat, a 16th-century fort expanded by the Turks, where the Mediterranean spreads out below. The tour includes time at Yasmine Hammamet and its marina for a coffee or drink before heading south.

Sousse closes the day as a larger, modern resort town: the capital of the Tunisian Sahel, with a ramparted medina, working fishing port and beaches of fine sand stretching toward El Kantaoui. The city mixes old souks with contemporary seaside neighborhoods, and it's one of the country's main tourist centers. An air-conditioned vehicle carries the group between stops, and a professional guide narrates in your choice of language. Bottled water and parking are covered. You arrange your own lunch.

What’s included
