The experience

The Guellala Museum sits on a hilltop and holds the island's ceramic heritage: traditional pottery, clothing, jewelry and everyday objects that show how Djerba's communities lived. A live pottery demonstration happens during the visit, so you watch the craft that made the island known. The museum also offers panoramic views across the countryside toward the Mediterranean. From there, the route moves to Djerbahood, an open-air street-art village in Erriadh where international artists have filled narrow streets with colorful murals that blend contemporary work with traditional Djerbian architecture.

Houmt Souk, the island's capital, is where you have time to walk the traditional markets on your own. Vendors sell spices, handicrafts, jewelry, pottery and textiles, and the lively atmosphere shows everyday island life beyond the organized stops. The El Ghriba Synagogue (one of North Africa's oldest and most important Jewish places of worship) features colorful tiles and intricate decorations. Note that it closes on Saturdays. Djerba Explore Park combines a heritage village showcasing traditional architecture and crafts with the crocodile farm, where hundreds of Nile crocodiles live in a natural setting you can walk through safely.

An air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your hotel and returns you there at the end. A professional guide leads the tour in English, Italian, French or Arabic. Lunch is provided during the day, and all areas of the sites are wheelchair accessible.
