The experience
The speedboat leaves from Thongkrut Pier or your hotel, depending on which option you book, and reaches Koh Tan in about seven to ten minutes. Once there, you enter the water with mask and fins already fitted and spend time among the colorful fish and coral formations. The reef sits close to shore, so you're never far from the boat, and the guide stays in the water with you to point out what's worth seeing.
After snorkeling at Koh Tan, the boat moves to Koh Madsum, the smaller island nearby where a population of semi-wild pigs lives on the beach. You can photograph them, wade in the shallows, or simply sit on the sand and let the morning settle. There's no schedule here. You spend as long as you want before the boat heads back to Samui. Depending on which option you choose, lunch happens either before or after the islands, or you can skip it and use the time for a second snorkel or a longer rest on the beach.
The whole outing runs four to five hours from pickup to drop-off. You'll wear a life jacket on the boat and have access to bottled water throughout. If you want to add kayaking to the day, that's available as an add-on at checkout. Lunch is optional on most options and included on one. Hotel pickup is included in some options but not all, so check which one you're booking.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the snorkeling like at Koh Tan?
Koh Tan has a shallow coral reef close to shore with small colorful fish and coral formations. The guide enters the water with you and points out what to look for. Most of the snorkeling happens in the first part of the day, before the boat moves to Koh Madsum.
Can I bring my own snorkel gear or do I have to use theirs?
Snorkel equipment is provided and included in the price. The gear is fitted before you enter the water, so there's no need to bring your own.
What exactly is Pig Island and what do you do there?
Koh Madsum, also called Pig Island, is a small island where semi-wild pigs live on the beach. You land there to photograph the animals, wade in the shallow water, relax on the sand, or simply walk around. There's no formal activity. You spend your time there however you want before heading back to Samui.
Do I have to book hotel pickup or can I meet the boat at the pier?
You can choose to meet the boat at Thongkrut Pier or add hotel pickup depending on which option you select at checkout. If you pick the pier option, you'll save money. If you pick one with transfer, the boat collects you from your hotel and brings you back.
Is lunch included, and if so, when does it happen?
Lunch is optional and depends on which option you book. One option includes it. The others don't. If you choose lunch, it's served either before or after the snorkeling and island time, so you can plan your day around it.
