The experience
If you're staying on Phi Phi Don and have a full afternoon free, this tour fills it without requiring your own transport or planning. You meet the crew at McDonald's near Ton Sai Pier at 10:30am and board a speedboat with a maximum of 35 guests. The route moves fast: Monkey Beach first (a 150-meter strip of white sand where wild macaques rest on the shore), then Shark Point, an underwater reef teeming with leopard sharks and coral that looks unremarkable from above. You swim and snorkel at both stops.
By midday you're at Bamboo Island, where the sand is the whitest on the route and shaded by actual bamboo trees. Thai lunch arrives buffet-style on the beach itself. You eat with your feet in the sand. After lunch the boat cruises past Mosquito Island for photos, stops for snorkeling at Hin Klang (an underwater coral mountain that never breaks the surface), then returns past Nui Bay, Monkey Bay and Wang Long Bay on the way to Phi Phi Leh. The second half of the day is built around that island: you snorkel on its east coast, then cruise into Maya Bay, Loh Samah Bay and Phi Leh Lagoon, where limestone cliffs rise straight out of turquoise water. A short stop at Viking Cave comes next, then you watch the sunset from the boat on the way back to Phi Phi Don.
The final stop is the night snorkel. The water fills with bioluminescent plankton, tiny organisms that glow when disturbed, and the effect is what the operator calls a psychedelic underwater show. You're back at the pier by 7:30pm. The tour includes snorkeling equipment, a life jacket, national park entrance, an English-speaking guide, drinking water and seasonal fruit. Basic accident insurance is covered. Note that Maya Bay closes for two months each low season (typically May–July) for environmental recovery, so that stop may not run depending on when you travel.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Thai.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 9 years); Infant (2 to 3 years): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
Can I snorkel if I've never done it before?
Yes. The tour includes snorkeling equipment and makes four dedicated snorkel stops (Monkey Beach, Shark Point, Hin Klang and the east coast of Phi Phi Leh), so you can enter the water at your own pace. A guide is on board to help, and the crew will show you how to use the gear.
What's the water like at Shark Point?
Shark Point is an underwater reef that doesn't break the surface, so it appears as a small rock from the boat. Below, it's a multicolored reef full of marine life, and leopard sharks often rest on the sandy seafloor. They're docile and used to divers. The water is clear enough to see the reef structure and the sharks from the surface.
Is Maya Bay actually empty when we visit?
The tour arrives at Maya Bay in the late afternoon (around 5:30–6:20pm) when most day-trippers have left. The operator describes it as a time when you can see the bay without boats moored and without footprints in the sand: a stark difference from midday. That said, you're not alone. Other sunset tours also visit at that hour.
What exactly is the bioluminescent plankton snorkel?
After sunset, you snorkel in water filled with tiny glowing organisms that light up when you move through them or disturb the water. The effect is visible in the dark and happens naturally on calm nights. It's the final stop before returning to the pier, so you experience it in the evening rather than during daylight.
How much time do I actually spend swimming and snorkeling?
You have roughly 30 minutes at Monkey Beach, 30 minutes at Shark Point, 90 minutes on Bamboo Island (including lunch), 30 minutes at Hin Klang, 30 minutes on the east coast of Phi Phi Leh, and 30 minutes in the bioluminescent plankton. The rest of the day is spent cruising between stops and sightseeing from the boat.
What's included in the lunch?
A Thai-style buffet lunch served directly on Bamboo Island beach. The operator doesn't detail the menu, but it's a full meal meant to refuel you for the afternoon's snorkeling. Drinking water and seasonal fruit are provided throughout the day as well.
