Certified Diving Phi Phi: 2 Dives, Small Groups, Turtles & Sharks
You get lunch on the boat between dives, and the guide switches sites if the first one is crowded.
A half-day scuba dive for certified divers around Koh Phi Phi's coral reefs, departing from the main island with a small group (two divers per instructor) and a PADI 5-star eco dive centre. Two dives lasting around 60 minutes each, with lunch on board between them. The guide picks the sites each day to avoid crowds and match what you saw on the first dive: turtles on dive one means sharks on dive two, or vice versa. You must be certified and have dived within the past year, and you need to spend at least one night on Koh Phi Phi Don to join.

The experience
The boat leaves the main pier after a 20-minute ride by longtail to the dive sites, which sit in the shelter of Koh Phi Phi Leh and stay accessible year-round. Dives run around 60 minutes each and cover the Bida Islands and Phi Phi Leh sites: the reefs hold turtles, sharks, clownfish, big schools of snappers, barracuda, lionfish, scorpionfish, moray eels and stingrays. The guide decides which site to hit second based on what you encountered first, so if turtles showed on dive one, you'll head to a known shark spot for dive two.
Lunch happens on board in the gap between dives, and the centre accommodates dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. The group stays small, two divers to one instructor, and the operation has been running longer than any other longtail dive outfit in the area. Morning trips depart at 7am or 7.30am and return by 12.30–1pm, in time for onboard ferries. Afternoon trips leave at 12.30pm or 12.45pm and return around 5.30–6pm. You'll pay the Marine Park ranger fee on the day. All SCUBA equipment and basic insurance are included. If you haven't dived in over a year, you can add a scuba refresher upgrade at checkout.
You must be certified and have logged a dive within the past 12 months to book. Contact the dive centre 24 hours before to confirm your experience level, sign waivers and finalize the exact meeting time. The centre operates in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and several other languages. If you answer yes to any RSTC medical questions, you'll need a doctor's clearance before the trip.

Is this one for you?The trip departs from Koh Phi Phi Don's main pier, so if you're staying on the island without a car or boat of your own, you walk to the pier and the longtail handles the rest: no separate transport to arrange. The small-group format (two divers per instructor) and the guide's willingness to switch sites if the first one is busy mean you're not competing with other boats for space on the reef.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Thai and Chinese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
What marine life will I actually see on these dives around Phi Phi?
Turtles, sharks, clownfish, snappers, barracuda, lionfish, scorpionfish, moray eels and stingrays all live on the reefs around Bida Islands and Phi Phi Leh. The guide picks the second dive site based on what showed on the first one, so you're likely to see different species at each stop.
Do I need to stay overnight on Phi Phi Don to book this dive trip?
Yes, the trip departs from the main pier on Koh Phi Phi Don, so you must spend at least one night on the island. The boat takes 20 minutes to reach the dive sites from there.
How long is the whole trip, and when do I get back?
The half-day trip runs about five hours total. Morning departures at 7am or 7.30am return by 12.30–1pm. Afternoon trips leaving at 12.30pm or 12.45pm return around 5.30–6pm. Morning returns are timed to catch onboard ferries off the island.
What happens if I haven't dived in more than a year?
You can add a scuba refresher upgrade at checkout for an extra fee, which brings you back up to speed before the two main dives. Contact the centre 24 hours ahead to confirm your experience and sign waivers.
Is the group size really just two divers per instructor?
Yes, the centre runs small groups with a maximum of two divers to one PADI professional, which is part of how they keep the focus on safety and personal service. All guides are experienced PADI professionals.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
SCUBA equipment, basic insurance and lunch on the boat are all included. The centre accommodates dietary needs like vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals. You'll pay the Marine Park ranger fee on the day of the dive.
