You start in the Northern Region with Lanna temples—the Ho Kham Pavilion and Grand Hall of Wat Maha That—then move into Khmer sanctuaries in the Northeastern section: Prasat Phra Wihan, Phimai Sanctuary, Prasat Sikhoraphum. The Central Region is where it gets dense: Dusit Maha Prasat Palace, the Floating Market, Sanphet Prasat Palace all within walking distance. You're not rushing between them; you're moving through them, and the scale of it sinks in slowly.

The Southern Region blends cultural influences—City Sala, Pallava carvings—and then there's the Suvarnabhumi Zone, which brings Thai mythology into physical form with Sumeru Mountain and the Pavilion of the Enlightened. It's a lot to take in, which is why most people rent a golf cart or tram on-site (extra fee, but worth considering if you're walking all day). The Ancient City opens at 9am and closes at 7pm, with last entry at 6pm. After you finish there, you head to the Erawan Museum—and here's the thing: these two aren't next to each other, so you need to budget time for the drive between them. The Erawan Museum is smaller, more focused. It's built around a colossal three-headed elephant, and inside you'll find intricate murals, spiritual relics, and celestial designs that blend Buddhist, Hindu, and Thai folklore. It opens at 9am and closes at 6pm, with the inside area shutting down at 5:30pm.

Your ticket options let you shape the day. You can do Ancient City alone, Ancient City plus the Erawan Museum, or add a Thai buffet lunch or dinner depending on which package you choose. If you're going for the combo, the food is included; otherwise, you'll find vendors and restaurants on-site. One practical note: these are walking-only tickets, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Drone photography isn't allowed in the Ancient City, and if you're planning to wear traditional Thai costume, check the dress code first—outside Thai costumes aren't permitted.
