The experience

The tour starts with a 6:30am pickup from your hotel in Bangkok, Pattaya or Koh Chang, then drives to the Poipet border crossing into Cambodia (bring a printed e-visa or arrange one on arrival). After clearing immigration, it's a two-hour drive to Siem Reap and your 4-star hotel. By 3:30pm you're on a private boat touring the Tonle Sap floating village, watching stilt houses, fish farms and daily life on the water before returning to the hotel by evening.

Day two is Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Angkor Wat is the main temple and one of the seven wonders of the world. Angkor Thom is the walled city surrounding it, protected by a 3km moat. Inside Angkor Thom sits the Bayon temple at its center, famous for 216 carved stone faces of Buddha covering its towers. You'll also visit the Baphoun, the ancient royal palace grounds, the Elephant Terrace and the Leper King Terrace. Ta Prohm, the temple still half-buried in forest where the Tomb Raider film was shot, closes out the day.

Day three takes you to Banteay Srei, 37km away and built entirely of pink sandstone with intricate carvings. The grand tour then covers Preah Khan (built in 1191, the latest temple in the Angkor complex), Neak Pean (a 12th-century healing temple in the center of an ancient water basin), Ta Som (a peaceful former hospital with trees growing through its eastern gate), Eastern Mebon (a temple in the middle of a water basin where Hindu ceremonies took place), and Pre Rup (a 10th-century crematorium with views across the site). Day four is checkout and return transfer to Bangkok, Pattaya or Koh Chang.

Is this one for you?Book this if you're based in Bangkok, Pattaya, or Koh Chang and want hotel pickup included. The tour departs at 6:30am from your accommodation and handles the border crossing to Cambodia in one itinerary.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years); Infant (under 4): free.

How do I get from Bangkok to Siem Reap on this tour?

A driver picks you up from your hotel at 6:30am and drives you to the Poipet border crossing, where you clear Cambodian immigration (you'll need a printed e-visa or can apply on arrival). After crossing, it's a two-hour drive to Siem Reap and your hotel, arriving by early afternoon.

What is Angkor Wat and why is it on this tour?

Angkor Wat is the main temple of the Angkor complex and one of the seven wonders of the world. It's the centerpiece of day two, visited with a licensed guide who explains its history and layout before you explore the temple grounds.

What makes Ta Prohm different from the other temples?

Ta Prohm is still covered by forest, with massive tree roots growing over and through its stone structures. It's known as the Tomb Raider temple because the film was shot there, and its overgrown appearance makes it visually distinct from the other restored temples on the tour.

What's included in the price and what do I need to arrange myself?

The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, all transport by air-conditioned vehicle, three nights in a 4-star hotel with daily breakfast, a licensed English-speaking guide, and all temple entry tickets. You'll need to arrange your own Cambodian visa (e-visa or on arrival), and lunch and dinner are not included.

Can I do this tour if I'm traveling solo or with a large group?

The tour is private and runs for a minimum of one person up to a maximum of 15 people, so it works for solo travelers, couples, families and groups. Rooms are assigned as one king bed for couples or two beds for friends and families.
