Step-by-step itinerary
Arusha National Park game drive and safari
- Game drive through Arusha National Park
- Walking safari to waterfall
- Observe giraffes, zebras, buffalos, baboons, impalas
The experience
The day splits between two ways of moving through the park. You start with a game drive to cover ground and spot wildlife from the vehicle: giraffes, zebras, buffalos, impalas and baboons, including the rare white baboon if you're lucky. Then you switch to a walking safari, where you move on foot through the landscape and get closer to the animals and the terrain itself. The walking portion builds toward the waterfall, a natural feature that drops from Mount Meru and marks the end of the route.
Private transportation means you're not sharing the vehicle or the guide's attention with other groups. Your guide arrives speaking one of four languages (English, Spanish, French or German), and hotel pickup is included in the booking, so you don't arrange a separate transfer to the park. The day is structured to suit all fitness levels, though the walking safari does involve time on foot over uneven ground.
Bottled water and lunch are provided, so you're not hunting for food or water during the eight to ten hours. The timing lets you start and finish within a single day without an overnight stay.
