The experience

The route moves through three of Tanzania's premier wildlife zones over six days, each with its own character. Tarangire opens the safari with herds of elephants beneath baobab trees and sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and giraffe. Two full days in Serengeti follow, where the central Seronera area holds year-round populations of lions and leopards alongside wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. The final stretch descends into Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest collapsed volcanic crater, where a 5-hour game drive on the crater floor puts you among 30,000 animals in one contained ecosystem. Lake Manyara closes the loop on the return to Arusha, known for tree-climbing lions and seasonal flamingo congregations.

Each day runs a full game drive with a picnic lunch in the field. You stay in lodges between parks (Farm of Dreams Lodge near Tarangire and Ngorongoro, Angata Luxury Tented Camp in Serengeti), and return to your accommodation by evening for dinner. The guide is the same person throughout, speaking your chosen language and navigating the timing of each drive to maximize wildlife viewing. Private transportation means the vehicle and guide are yours alone, with no other groups sharing the route or the stops.

The itinerary is fixed across the six days, so the sequence of parks and the number of game drives in each one do not change. Pickup from Arusha on day one and drop-off there on day six are included. The return arrives by around 6pm. All national park fees, taxes and transportation between lodges are covered in the price.

What wildlife can I expect to see on a 6-day Tanzania safari?

Tarangire is known for large elephant herds, and you may also see lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. Serengeti holds year-round lion and leopard populations plus wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Ngorongoro Crater shelters roughly 30,000 animals including lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, rhinos and antelopes. The crater lake draws flamingos and a variety of birds including eagles, vultures, storks and herons. Lake Manyara is home to buffaloes, giraffes, impalas and baboons, and tree-climbing lions appear there seasonally.

How much time do I spend on game drives each day?

Tarangire and the Serengeti days run full-day game drives with a picnic lunch in the field. The Ngorongoro crater descent is a 5-hour drive on the crater floor, followed by a steep climb back to the rim. Lake Manyara on the final day is a half-day game drive ending by mid-afternoon, after which you drive back to Arusha and arrive around 6pm.

Do I need to arrange my own transport between Arusha and the parks?

No. Private transportation is included throughout the safari: pickup from Arusha on day one, all transfers between parks and lodges, and drop-off back to Arusha on day six. The same vehicle and guide travel with you for the entire six days.
