The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Bern accommodation and heads straight into Alpine terrain. St. Beatus Caves is the centerpiece: you'll spend about 1 to 1.5 hours underground exploring the cave system on your own, moving through passages lined with stalactites and past waterfalls that flow inside the mountain. The caves sit on the shores of Lake Thun, so the approach itself frames what you're about to see.

After the caves, the route moves to Grindelwald, a village built into the mountainside where you'll have time for lunch and to walk the streets without rushing. The scenery here is the draw: steep peaks frame the valley and the village sits in the middle of it. From there, you continue to Lauterbrunnen, famous for the waterfalls that cascade down the cliff walls surrounding the valley. The tour also includes a stop at a traditional Swiss village on Lake Thun's shore if time allows, then returns you to your hotel in Bern by late afternoon or early evening.
