The experience
The ride starts with your guide assessing what kind of day you want. You might take an easy loop through family-friendly terrain, tackle the classic MTB routes Engadina is known for, or push into technical trails if you're an advanced rider. The guide builds the route on the spot based on your fitness, skill and what you want to see, not a fixed itinerary everyone follows the same way.
Stops are built into the three hours. You'll ride through Val Roseg, where the valley opens up enough to stop and shoot photos. Pontresina, a village on the route, breaks up the pedaling with a walk around town. Lake Staz sits at the end of most routes: you stop to rest, take pictures, and if you want, swim in the water before heading back. The guide can also arrange a picnic lunch, snack or aperitif at one of these spots if you book it in advance. You just cover the food cost.
Bring a bike if you have one, or rent locally before the tour starts. The operator doesn't provide rentals. You'll need at least moderate fitness and some comfort on a bike seat for three hours. The guide is a certified instructor who knows the terrain and can adjust the pace or route on the fly if someone needs a break or wants to skip a technical section.
