The experience

The flight starts at Mount Male, where you meet your guide and go through a security briefing before launch. A few steps and you're airborne: no experience needed, since the guide handles the paraglider and you're harnessed in beside them. The route takes you from the mountain down toward Wengen, and the whole flight runs about 90 minutes depending on wind and thermals. You'll see the three major peaks of the Bernese Oberland (the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau), and the Lauterbrunnen valley spreads below with its 72 waterfalls visible from the air.

All paragliding equipment is provided, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, French or German. Public transportation options are available near the departure point if you're traveling without a car. The landing happens in Wengen, a car-free village, so you'll arrive on foot rather than by vehicle.
