The experience

The tour splits into two parts: two hours on foot through Lugano's center, then a car transfer to Morcote, about 20 kilometers away. In Lugano you'll walk to the cathedral of St. Lorenz to see 15th-century frescoes, the church of St. Mary with its famous fresco by Luini, and Via Nassa, the city's fashion street. The guide shows you the city hall square and takes you down to the lakeside before heading back up to the car.

Morcote is a small village built into a hillside, with the lake in front and forested hills behind. You'll see the 16th-century frescoes inside the church of St. Peter, walk across a small forest to the church of St. Mary of the Stone, and descend to the lakeside. If you want to add time, the guide can arrange entry to the Scherrer park. The whole tour takes four hours, and the car handles the transfer both ways. This is not a boat tour, so you stay on land the entire time.

Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or Russian, depending on what you choose at booking.
