Skate across frozen lakes and return to shore for hot fika and lunch

A full-day ice skating activity on natural ice around Stockholm with a professional guide, minibus transport, complete skating gear and warm lunch included. The guide confirms safe ice conditions the day before and adjusts the route accordingly; if conditions don't allow skating, a winter hike replaces it instead. Children from age 15 are welcome, and the guide speaks English, French, German, Swedish and one additional language.

The Experience

Seven hours on the ice starts with gearing up at base camp, where you'll get skates, boots, poles, picks, a backpack, helmet and protection pads from top brands. The guide then drives the group by minibus to whichever frozen lake or Baltic Sea location has the best ice that day—the route is confirmed only the day before, depending on conditions. After a safety brief, you'll skate for several hours across natural ice, breaking for hot Swedish fika (a warm drink with a snack) on the shore and stopping for a proper warm lunch before heading back.

Everything is arranged so you show up ready to move. Transport from the meeting point handles the drive to and from the lakes; the guide leads the skating and reads the ice; the gear fits you (email your EU shoe size ahead of time, sizes 37–46 available). You bring winter clothes—layers, not bulk, and nothing cotton—and the rest is covered. Public transportation options are nearby if you're not driving yourself.

Ice conditions are not guaranteed, and the operator notes that last winter they didn't cancel a single session. If the ice isn't safe, a winter hike fills the day instead. The activity suits all fitness levels, and the guide speaks multiple languages so you can follow instructions and ask questions as you go.

Top questions

Can I go ice skating in Stockholm if I've never skated before?

Yes. The activity is beginner friendly and includes a safety brief before you skate. The guide leads the group and adjusts the pace to the group's ability. All equipment is provided, and the guide is there to help you stay upright and confident on the ice.

What happens if the ice isn't safe on the day I'm booked?

The guide confirms ice conditions the day before and picks the safest location. If conditions don't allow skating, a winter hike replaces the activity instead. The operator notes that last winter they completed every single session on the ice without cancellation.

What do I need to bring and wear?

Bring winter clothes in layers—hat, gloves, and warm socks are essential. Avoid cotton; downhill skiing pants and jackets work well, or thermal long johns under regular pants. All skating gear, helmets and protection pads are provided. Email your EU shoe size (37–46) beforehand so equipment is ready.

How long is the full day and what's included in the lunch?

The activity runs seven hours total. Lunch is warm and included, along with hot Swedish fika (a warm drink and snack) during breaks on the shore. Transport by minibus to and from the lakes is also included.

What languages does the guide speak?

The guide speaks English, French, German, Swedish and one additional language, so you can follow instructions and ask questions throughout the day.

Is there a minimum age to join?

Children are welcome from age 15. The activity suits all fitness levels.
